On the 31rd of July 2012, a question was asked to the French government (through the Ministry in charge of SME, innovation and digital economy) regarding the IPv6 deployment at a national level. Ms. Laure de la Raudière, French deputy, was requesting information on the deployment of IPv6 in France and was questioning about actions that the government will take in order to foster the integration of the protocol.
That week, an answer from the concerned Ministry has been posted, saying that the government relies on recommendations made by the European Commission (eg. the 2008 EC communication, in its action plan, requests that by 2010, 25% of the users should be able to connect to IPv6). While the answer also says that recommendations have been done to have administrations requesting IPv6 as mandatory in their call for tenders, it indicates that the momentum toward a national strategy for an IPv6 deployment is still low.
That’s why, in that content, all stakeholders are invited to join the IPv6@GOV workshop, that aims at bringing together policy makers and organisations operating in the IPv6 domain to discuss the following key issues:
- National strategies concerning IPv6 deployment;
- Measures to speed up the deployment of IPv6 in the European Union and to strengthen the position of the European IPv6 industry.
